NETBALL action returns to the VigieMulti Purpose Sports Complex Saturday for the St. Lucia National Netball Association Independence Classic that is scheduled to start from 4:00 p.m.
According to SLNNA Public Relations Officer Genevieve St. Croix participants from the 1st and 2nd Division teams will March from the Government Buildings on the Waterfront to the Complex where Bird the opening ceremony will be held followed by a “Ball-O-Rama”.
The Ball-o-Rama will be played on a knock out format for a prize money where the winner takes it all.
The Tournament will officially serve off on Monday in Soufriere. St. Lucia Eagles plays Sulphur City Netballers In Division one from 7:00 p.m. The same day will see Division two players in action from 5:30 p.m. Vieux Fort plays Shamrock at the VMPSC, while on Wednesday in, Division 3, St.Lucia Eagles comes up against Avengers at the VMPSC from 4:00 p.m.
The participating teams in Division 1 are: Elite Strikers, Canaries, Shamrock, Sulphur City Netballers and St. Lucia Eagles. Division 2 will see- Shamrock, Anse la Raye, Avengers, Mabouya Valley, St. Lucia Eagles and Vieux Fort. Division 3 will comprise the Junior players from Anse la Raye, Avengers, Shamrock and St. Lucia Eagles.
Games will be played on a daily basis, from 4:00 p.m. for the Division 3 and 5:30 p.m for the Divisions 1 and 2. Matches have been decentralized and will be played in Mabouya Valley and in Vieux Fort where the Division 1 finals will be played to culminate the Independence Day Celebrations.
Meanwhile, a number of the players who represented St. Lucia at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland and the victorious OECS under – 23 team will be in action for their respective teams.
