Clivus Jules, Director of Sports, succinctly stated: “The Gros Islet community has molded the development of cricket on the island.”

He emphasized that the community’s enthusiasm is a model to emulate and highlighted the importance of grassroots training and youth development programs within the project.

Jules noted that the northern community has nurtured several young players, many of whom have progressed to represent their clubs, Gros Islet, and even the national team.

After a brief hiatus, competitive cricket returns to Gros Islet, showcasing exciting talent from the community along with guest players from other areas. Additionally, the tournament will feature participation from Under-19 players as well as exceptional female cricketers.

A fitting title for the tournament, “The Battle of the Knights – Where Knights Rise and Champions Emerge,” encapsulates the spirit of competition. Following the opener on Wednesday, matches will continue at the Francis “Baba” Lastic Grounds on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and weekends until the competition concludes on November 19.

An important feature of the tournament is the inclusion of an Under-19 development program. Developmental matches will take place on weekends, offering young cricketers invaluable opportunities to gain experience, develop their skills, and showcase their talent in a competitive setting.

This Under-19 initiative complements the senior competition by investing in the next generation of cricketers, nurturing their confidence and understanding of the game. Three U-19 Developmental Teams will compete, led by captains Neil Poyotte, Jn Claude Emmanuel, and Kanil Nelson.

Beyond the on-field competition, the tournament aims to strengthen community involvement, provide local players with a platform to showcase their talents, and create an exciting atmosphere for families, supporters, and cricket enthusiasts.

With support from Title Sponsors: – National Lotteries Authority, MP Kenson Casimir and Tournament Sponsors: – 1st National Bank, Baywalk Mall, Sandals Regency, Heineken Saint Lucia, along with Minute Maid and Piton Malta, Brothers Cider, and Team Sponsors:
