CDF’s Annual Youth Summer Arts Platform (YSAP) is Back

.

This summer, over 200 young creatives will seize the opportunity to refine their craft as the Cultural Development Foundation’s (CDF) Youth Summer Arts Platform (YSAP) returns.

This program provides young, aspiring artists a distinct chance to showcase their talent and creativity.

As CDF’s flagship youth engagement initiative, YSAP actively nurtures Saint Lucia’s cultural legacy through education and inclusion, promising an immersive, dynamic summer experience for youth aged 7 to 17.

This year, YSAP will operate in both the Northern and Southern districts, maximizing community engagement. The structured curriculum allows participants to immerse themselves in various art forms that not only foster creativity but also enhance learning and celebrate Saint Lucia’s rich cultural heritage.

This annual initiative introduces youth to the arts and provides a historical perspective, deepening their connection to local traditions and values.

“The Youth Summer Arts Platform (YSAP) focuses on creating a vital space for young people to express themselves freely,” declared Anthony Wilkie Jr., Senior Training, Promotions, and Development Officer at CDF.

“Our goal is to expose them to potential careers in the creative and cultural industries,” he asserted.

“Participants will gain valuable insight into how these industries operate, engaging with various components while enjoying an atmosphere filled with fun and creativity, ” Wilkie Jr. added.

Parents and guardians can confidently look forward to YSAP 2025. The four-week program guarantees a rich, hands-on creative experience that emphasizes mentorship, performance, cultural education, and an exciting final production that highlights all participants’ talents.

“We want participants to expect a lively and creative environment—one where they can express themselves, learn new concepts, form new connections, and immerse themselves in the arts and culture of Saint Lucia,” emphasized Wilkie Jr.

He continued , “Providing a safe space is paramount, not just creatively but also physically, and we are committed to addressing all those aspects. It won’t feel like school; it will feel like a place where creativity thrives.”

The Youth Summer Arts Platform will take place at two locations: Patricia D. James Secondary School in Castries (Northern district) and Bean Field Secondary School in Vieux Fort (Southern district), operating from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. on weekdays.

CDF intends for the participating children to engage meaningfully in a variety of artistic disciplines and art forms throughout the four weeks.

The program will culminate in a public theatrical production that celebrates Saint Lucia’s heritage and culture.
