Titled “Pi Bèl Klas-La”, which means “The Most Beautiful Classroom” in Kwéyòl, the competition invited all classes to take pride in their learning environments by focusing on cleanliness, organization, and proper waste disposal. More than just a beautification effort, the program promoted teamwork and school spirit while reinforcing key values around sustainability and personal responsibility.

Classrooms were evaluated based on several criteria, including:

  • Overall cleanliness
  • Waste management practices
  • Level of organization
  • Inclusion of educational and decorative displays promoting environmental awareness and school identity

The friendly competition inspired students to work together in creative ways—rearranging classroom layouts, introducing waste sorting systems, and incorporating vibrant, handmade posters and décor that reflected both curriculum themes and ecological consciousness.

According to school officials, the initiative yielded not only visibly improved classrooms but also a shift in student mindset regarding the upkeep of shared spaces. “The ‘Pi Bèl Klas-La’ competition is more than just about appearances,” said a school representative. “It reinforces the idea that a clean, organized environment supports better learning and cultivates a stronger sense of ownership and respect.”

As the competition wraps up, winning classrooms will be recognized for their efforts, but the real reward lies in the lasting habits and attitudes the initiative has sparked.

The Saint Lucia TVET School of Construction and Heritage continues to lead by example in integrating practical life skills into the educational experience, nurturing not just skilled tradespeople but responsible citizens.
