The expert panellists who participated in the Caribbean Development Bank’s (CDB) seminar, entitled “Solutions on All Sides: Addressing Multiple Crises to End Gender Inequality”, (from left) Ms Tamara Huggins, Director of Women’s Voice and Leadership Equality Fund Caribbean, Ms Nicole Pitter Patterson, international trade and gender expert, Ms Michele Irving, President of the Belize National Women’s Commission, Dr Halimah Deshong, Head and Senior Lecturer at the Institute of Development and Gender Studies at the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill, and Ms Judith Wedderburn, board director of Women’s Media Watch Jamaica. The seminar was part of the CDB’s Annual Meeting, held recently in Saint Lucia. It was staged to find solutions to counter the setbacks from the recent challenges and crises which slowed progress on gender equality, social equity, and access to justice.

The need for gender-responsive, inclusive approaches, laws and policies that address gaps in early childcare services, and a men and boys platform for peace and action

Canada’s Minister of International Development, Honourable Harjit Sajjan, CDB’s Governor for Canada, has now assumed the role of Bank Chairman and the next Annual Meeting will be held in Canada in 2024. Ms. Urban, who served as Canada’s Temporary Alternate Governor at the 2023 Annual Meeting, accepted the mantel on Minister Sajjan’s behalf.
