Veterans Football Series Resumes This Weekend

THE Veterans Football Tournament organized by Veterans In Sports Inc. and Caribbean Alliance Insurance resumes this weekend with the quarter final stage at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds. From 6:00 p.m. Saturday, former champions Behind the College All Stars who had the worse finish in the preliminary round in Group B since the inception of the tournament will take on home team Vieux Forth South who opened their campaign with a 5 – 1 drubbing of Laborie Veterans, but lost momentum along the way in Group A.

An Act of Deception

ALL indications were that the UWP was against the Sunset Bay Resort Development in Sabwisha, Choiseul. Of course there is little that needs to be done to convince anyone that the hotel development was nothing but an election ploy. Only, the backfire seems to be in the faces of the people of Morne Sion, New Field, Fiette, Delcer and La Pointe. But again, my people like to complain in silence.

Lions, Leos Spread Christmas Cheer

THE Castries Lions and Leos recently took time to share Christmas with the less fortunate. On Saturday December 10, the members of the clubs visited the TiRocher Combined School for the annual Children’s Christmas party. The 140 students were treated to goodies and each child received a gift from Santa. This year the gifts were personalized as members were given the names of the students for whom they were to purchase the toys.

ON December 23rd, the spotlight fell on the staff of CIBC FirstCaribbean International Bank, during a short ceremony at the Bridge Street branch to hand over food and toy hampers to the Salvation Army. The Bank opted to support the drive by soliciting contributions internally. This week, team members across all CIBCFirstCaribbean branches brought in food and toys to contribute to the hampers.

Badree Helps Extend Misery for Russell and Thunder

SYDNEY, Australia, Dec 28, CMC – West Indies leg-spinner Samuel Badree grabbed a brace of wickets as his Brisbane Heat sent Andre Russell’s Sydney Thunder to their third straight loss of the Big Bash League here Wednesday. Playing at Sydney Showground Stadium, Thunder were held to 157 for seven off their 20 overs and then watched as Heat sped to their target with two balls remaining.
