U–21 Semifinals At Vieux Fort Tonight

THE Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort will come alive this evening when the Saint Lucia Football Association stage its double header semifinal matches in the Vizions Under – 21 men’s championship. From 6:00 p.m. Soufriere will take on Marchand in what is expected to be a keenly contested matchup. Marchand made it to the semifinal with a 5 – 1 victory over Anse-la-Raye, while Soufriere edged out La Clery 1 – 0.

THE Shamrock netball team is still basking in the glory of being crowned champions of the second Annual Shamfest Festival despite a low scoring final against Sir Arthur Lewis Community College on Saturday at the Vigie Multi-Purpose Sports Complex. The girls were all smiles as they reminisced being unbeaten throughout the tournament, but the laughter was at its loudest when they spoke of victory over Sir Arthur Lewis Community College 26 – 23 as most of the Shamrock players are students of the Sir Arthur Lewis Community College.

Local Boxers Set for Stiff Challenge in Barbados

EIGHT Saint Lucian boxers left the island yesterday to compete in the 2nd Annual Caribbean Boxing Developmental Championships in Barbados which begins today and runs until Saturday. Leading Saint Lucia’s charge at the championships is Lyndell Marcellin in the 69 kg weight class. Also on the team are Marvin Anthony (81 kg weight class), Arthur Langelier (75 kg weight class), Leslie Joseph (60 kg weight class), Nathan Farrier (64 kg weight class), Kareem Boyce (60 kg weight class), JavannusFevrier (60 kg weight class) and Omar Mann (56 kg weight class).

Alzarri Joseph Comes In for ‘Hurricanes’

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, Dec 5, CMC – Test fast bowler Alzarri Joseph is set to make his first appearance in the Regional Four-Day Championship after being named in the Leeward Islands Hurricanes 13-man squad for next weekend’s fourth round game against Windward Islands Volcanoes. The 20-year-old has replaced seamer Quinton Boatswain and is the only change to the squad from the last round against Trinidad and Tobago Red Force.

STAFF of the Saint Lucia Tourist Board (SLTB), World Cruising Company and Saint Lucia Customs and Excise will be kept active this weekend to welcome 49 yachts from the ARC+ and ARC arriving at the Rodney Bay Marina. Felix Taburiaux of World Cruising Company spoke to The VOICE just before press time on Friday, saying: “It’s going to be a very busy weekend for us at the IGY Rodney Bay Marina.

New CPL Record – 134 Million Viewers This Year

CARIBBEAN Premier League organisers announced Thursday that the Twenty20 showpiece had once again exceeded global viewership figures for the just concluded season, with a nearly 44 percent increase over the previous year. According to figures, this year’s tournament enjoyed an audience of 134 million, a significant rise over the 93 million viewers that tuned in for the 2015 edition.
