St. Lucia Ranked #21 In World Netball
THE International Netball Federation has updated its rankings to reflect matches played between October 23 and December 11, 2016, including matches from the Test series between England and Jamaica and the Test Series between Saint Lucia and Saint Martin. Following these activities, there is no change to the ranking for the top ten teams. However, Jamaica (4th) draws closer to England (3rd) as a result of their 2-1 series win.

THE heavyweights in the various national sports federations are finally flexing their muscles as the Department of Youth Development and Sports continues preparation for this year’s National Sports Awards scheduled for February 18. After what can best be described as a mixed year in terms of performance the list of nominees for associations, coaches, administrators, technical officials and clubs of the year has been released by the Department of Youth Development and Sports.
Veterans Semifinals Decided
THE four semifinalists have been decided in the Veterans In Sports Inc./Saint Lucia Football Association tournament. On Saturday in the first quarter final game, FLOW Lancers and Soufriere played to a 1-1 draw at the Phillip Marcellin Ground after the former took the lead in the 22nd minute through a goal from Nigel Springer.

St. John’s, Antigua – The West Indies and Pakistan Cricket Boards have agreed to play three Tests, three One-Day-Internationals and two Twenty20 matches in the Caribbean from Monday, March 27 to Monday, May 15. The series is scheduled to start in the twin-island of Trinidad and Tobago and end in Dominica.

THE West Indies Cricket Board (WICB) has appointed Johnny Grave as its new Chief Executive Officer, following a rigorous recruitment process led by PricewaterhouseCoopers, Barbados. Windies U-19 Victors To Tour South Africa
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – The West Indies Under-19 team will have a seven-match tour of South Africa in mid-year as they continue preparation for the International Cricket Council’s Under-19 World Cup. West Indies won their first Under-19 World Cup in February 2016 in Bangladesh, under the captaincy of ShimronHetmyer. The Caribbean side will again be coached by Graeme West and will look to defend the trophy when they play in New Zealand in January, 2018.

THE semifinalists of the 2016-2017 Veterans/FLOW Plate Football Championships have been decided following last weekend’s quarterfinals at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds in Vieux Fort when 23 goals were scored. WINDIES Women To Have World Cup Camp In England
ST JOHN’S, Antigua – West Indies Women’s team will have a two-week camp in England as part of their preparation for the International Cricket Council’s Women’s World Cup later this year. The Windies are the most improved team in women’s cricket and will look to add the 50-over title to the ICC World T20 title they won at Eden Gardens in Kolkata, in April, 2016.

ORGANIZERS of one of Saint Lucia’s most-talked-about football tournaments are set to launch the highly-anticipated Vizions Entertainment Super League Knockout Tournament on January 30. The $100,000-plus launch will be attended by a number of stakeholders/sponsors, including the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA), which has again sanctioned the tournament, as well as representatives from the various teams who will be anxiously waiting to hear which team they will play and where the main draw is held.
7 Young Footballers for High Performance Training
SEVEN of Saint Lucia’s talented young footballers are currently in Barbados as of Thursday for a six-day stay at the High Performance Centre at the University of the West Indies in the hope of gaining a scholarship and further excel in the sport.
World ARC Sets Off Here Today
TWENTY six boats will set sail from Rodney Bay today for Santa Marta on the first leg of this year’s World ARC. The crossing is expected to be quick as the boats will take around five days to reach Marina Santa Marta.
