The Caribbean Football Union (CFU) mandates all Member Associations and their affiliated clubs to adhere to new eligibility requirements for participation in the 2027 CFU Club Shield.
Beginning in 2027, clubs must complete the Club Licensing process at the Member Association level and obtain either a Domestic or Regional License in accordance with the Concacaf Club Licensing Regulations.
Only those clubs that are officially registered and comply fully with the competition regulations will be permitted to compete in the tournament. It is imperative that clubs maintain full compliance during the season in which they qualify.
For instance, if a club wins the 2026 domestic league and qualifies for the 2027 CFU Club Shield, that club must secure the appropriate license at least 15 days before the beginning of the 2026 league season, as outlined in the Concacaf regulations.
CFU General Secretary Camara David asserts that this initiative reinforces the CFU’s commitment to enhancing and professionalizing football across the Caribbean.
“The CFU Club Shield is a platform that elevates Caribbean football. By enforcing licensing compliance, we ensure that clubs meet essential standards that promote fair play, organizational growth, and long-term sustainability throughout the region,” David stated.
The CFU expects all Member Associations to communicate these requirements to their clubs and relevant stakeholders without delay to ensure compliance in a timely manner.
