National Students’ Council hosts annual general assembly

Calls on youth-based NGOs to step up

In November of each year, the National Students’ Council (NCS) hosts its general assembly to mark the beginning of a new students’ council year. The conference is the highest decision-making body of the organization and meets annually to discuss the way forward for the council and elect a new executive for the following year.

This year’s event is expected to engage between 150 and 200 student leaders from across the island and will be held on November 17, which is celebrated as “International Students’ Day”, under the theme, “A Sustainable NSC: Yours and Mine”.

It is the goal of the movement to transition into a sustainable structure with the launch of a new logo and a strategic plan for the next three years. Also up for discussion will be the council’s constitution.

The President calls on other youth-based non-governmental organizations, specifically the National Youth Council (NYC), to make an active contribution towards the holistic development of youth in Saint Lucia and lend support to each other through programming and fundraising ventures. It is a frightening reality that the more our efforts dwindle towards youth development, so, too, will our relevance to the average young Saint Lucian.
