Gros Islet Honours 16 On International Women’s Day

THE Parliamentary Representative for Gros Islet, Emma Hippolyte, this week hosted the second Gros Islet International Women’s Day Awards to honour women of the Gros Islet District in observance of International Women’s Day.

The event took place on Tuesday at the Bay Gardens Hotel. Sixteen women received awards for their professional development in their fields and their contributions to the district of Gros Islet and Saint Lucia.

The Awards Ceremony included a feature address by radio personality Angie Montoute and an address by the special guest, Dame Laurence Laurent, who was recently knighted in Saint Lucia’s 37th Independence Day Anniversary celebrations. It was Dame Laurence’s first public event since her elevation to a knighthood.

The women honoured were Augusta Cox Ifill, EthelinaEmausHilaire, Cheryl Skeete, Gloria Khan-Graham, Mary Lewis, Mauricia Thomas-Francis, Ginette Nicholas, Jaqueline Austin, Juliana Charles, Lera Mary Pascal, Magdalene Sylvia Cadasse, Maria Hippolyte, Margaret Monplaisir, Marguerite Desir, Simona Leon-Morille and Waltrude Ambrose Patrick.

Lera Pascal, on behalf of the Awardees expressed their appreciation for the recognition of their work and pledged to continue to support and assist the constituency of Gros Islet.
