Community Climate Change Meetings Underway

THE Caribbean Youth Environment Network (CYEN) and the Ministry of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology are again teaming up to raise the level of climate change discourse in Saint Lucia.

The Minister of Sustainable Development, Energy, Science and Technology, Senator Dr James Fletcher and technical personnel will accompany CYEN at community meetings to inform and discuss the way forward for national climate change adaptation and mitigation efforts, post the historic COP 21 held in Paris France late last year.

Prior to COP 21, the CYEN engaged communities on climate change issues and promised that they would return to provide feedback on what transpired at COP 21.

The first community meeting is scheduled for Today at 5:30 p.m. at St Isidore Hall, Soufriere. This session will cover the west coast (Canaries, Soufriere, Choiseul).

The second meeting will be held in Vieux-Fort at the Vieux-Fort Primary School, Beanfield tomorrow from 5:30 p.m. and the one for the northern part of Castries and Gros-Islet will be held on Thursday from 5:30 p.m. at Castries City Hall.
