A whopping 45 goals were scored this past weekend in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. Youth Tournament, with the main highlights being M. James of Shamballa registering the first hattrick in the Under 13 division; Nathaniel Fontinelle of DCYO and D’ Yami Belasse of Uptown Rebels scoring a hatrick in the Under 17 division and Riquelme Elva of Upton Rebels the first quadruple in the Under 17 division respectively.
The action resumes today in all three divisions when some of Saint Lucia’s finest youth footballers will be given a chance to showcase their talent on the pitch.
Today at the Anse la Raye Playing Field (ALRPF) in THE Northern and Western Zone Under-11 action, from 10.00 a.m. NYAH FC versus T Valley and CT Foundation plays Monchy FC. At 12.00 noon, Boguis United versus FC Pioneers and 1987 All Stars comes up against Flow Lancers FC.
Also in action today at the ALRPF, from 2.00 p.m. in the Northern and Western Zone Under 13, 1987 All Stars against Northern United and at 4.00 p.m. Monchy FC plays RV Juniors.
In the Southern Zone, at the Philip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) in Under-11 division, from 10.00a.m it will be Uptown versus DCYO with Knights playing Panthers.
In the Under 13 division, from 12.00 noon, Panthers versus Uptown while Eagles play RYO.
In the Under 17 division, from 3.00 p.m. Platinum versus OTR Strikers and Shamballa v Eagles.
On Sunday 30th, in the Northern and Western Zone, three games are scheduled in the Under 13 at the ALRPF, in Game 1, from 10.00 a.m. T Valley versus Boguis United; In Game 2, at 12.00 Flow Lancers FC plays Valley Soccer and from 2.00 p.m. B1 FC versus New Generation.
Still in the Northern and Western competition, this time in the Under 17 division at the ALRPF, from 5.00 p.m. Flow Lancers FC versus City Foundation and at the 7.00 p.m. Northern United plays Valley Soccer.
Also on Sunday, in the Southern Zone two games are on the cards in the Under 17 division at the PMG, from 5.00 p.m. Challengers versus Panthers at 7.00 p.m. RYO plays D Ballers.
Meanwhile, on Wednesday 26th, in the Western Zone Under 17 competition played at the Anse la Raye playing field. In the opening fixture, Northern United bounced back from trailing 1-0 to defeat New Generations 2-1.
After enjoying the better of the exchanges in an enthralling contest New Generations surged into the lead with a goal by Samuel Louison in the 1st minute of play and despite Northern United attempts for the equalizer the half ended 1-0.
Following the break, Northern United got into their stride and equalized with a goal by Samuel Louison in the 41st minute.
As the pendulum swung back and forth Jahil Evans shot the boys for the north into the lead in the 50th minute.
No further goals were scored as Northern United runaway victors 2-1.
