Officers at the Major Crimes Unit last Friday brought charges against 34-year-old Desma Cassandra Marliacy, formally known as Desma Hippolyte, of La Pointe, Dennery, for the offence of obtaining property by deception.
She appeared before the First District Court in Castries on one count of obtaining property by deception where she was granted bail in the sum of $6,000. Bail was granted with the following conditions: that she reports twice weekly to the Dennery Police Station between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., surrenders all travelling documents and identification documents, must not leave State without the permission of the Court and to not interfere with the witnesses in the matter.
Marliacy is due to appear before the Second District Court in Vieux Fort on Monday November 11 to answer to two additional counts of obtaining property by deception.
Additional charges are expected to be laid against her at a subsequent date.
