Prime Minister Hon. Philip J. Pierre has travelled to Washington, D.C., to participate in the United States–Caribbean Dialogue. As Chair of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), he is scheduled to deliver the welcome address on behalf of the Community on October 15, 2026.
The dialogue will convene Caribbean leaders and United States Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau for high-level discussions on energy security, economic growth and commercial diplomacy, defence coordination and disaster response.
These discussions address issues affecting daily life in Saint Lucia and across the region, including the cost and reliability of energy, investment and job opportunities, the fight against illegal firearms trafficking, and preparedness for hurricanes and other disasters.
The meeting provides an opportunity to advance cooperation between the Caribbean Community and the United States, with an emphasis on practical support, investment and sustained engagement in areas of shared interest.
During Prime Minister Pierre’s absence, Deputy Prime Minister Hon. Dr. Ernest Hilaire will act as Prime Minister from October 13 to 16, 2026.
