FOUR matches were completed on Tuesday as the Massy United Insurance Under – 19 Schools Cricket Tournament continued. Victories were recorded for Grande Riviere Secondary over Micoud Secondary, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College over Entrepot Secondary, Babonneau Secondary over Corinth Secondary and Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource over Piaye Secondary.
At the Dennery Playing Field in a low scoring match, Grande Riviere Secondary won over Micoud Secondary by 11 runs. Grande Riviere scored 103 in 13.5 overs, with Mc Kenny Flavius making 22. Bowling for Micoud Secondary, Garvin Serieux bagged 7 for 33 and CorneigeTalliam picked up 2 for 4.
In response, Micoud Secondary was bowled out for 92 in 14.3 overs, with CorneigeTaliam (27), the only batsman to reach double figures. Bowling for Grande Riviere Secondary, Zachary Edmund took 6 for 13 and SteffanGustave 3 for 30.
At the Monchy Playing Field, Sir Arthur Lewis Community College, led by a century from Kevyn Arnold completed a comfortable 85 run victory over Entrepot Secondary. Sir Arthur batting first made 304 for 7 in their allotted 35 overs, with opening batsman Arnold batting through the innings with good authority making a well-played 127 not out which included 10 fours and 9 sixes. Kavelli Francois with 36, Kester Charlemagne and Gerson Joseph with 28 each also made useful contributions.
Bowling for Entrepot Secondary, Kyle Adonis took 2 for 44, Olarry Alfred 2 for 49 and Trevor Norley up 2 for 56.
In reply, Entrepot Secondary was dismissed for 219 in 30 overs, with TyrelChicot stroking 78 which included 9 fours and 5 sixes. Kyle Adonis also chipped in with 28.
Bowling for Sir Arthur, Kester Charlemagne got 3 for 48, McCallum John 2 for 39 and Joshua Edward 2 for 47.
At the Gros Islet Playing Field, a century from Lee Solomon was not enough for Corinth Secondary, as they went down to Babonneau Secondary by 21 runs. Babonneau was dismissed for 236 in 29.1 overs, with Rene Montoute again among the runs with 57 which included 5 fours and 3 sixes; KimaniMelius was run out for 48, while Stavone Gabriel, scored 39 and Wilson Charlemagne 22.
Bowling for Corinth Secondary, LerryAuguste claimed 5 for 21 and Lee Solomon 2 for 38.
In reply, Corinth Secondary was bowled out for 219 in 30 overs, with Windwards Under – 15 player; Lee Solomon making a brilliant 115 laced with 20 fours and 2 sixes. Other useful scores came from LerryAuguste with 23 and Sheldon Busby 18.
Doing the damage with the ball for Babonneau Secondary were, Wilson Charlemagne with 4 for 28 and Rene Montoute 4 for 38.
At the Piaye Playing Field, in a low scoring but exciting match, Vieux Fort Comprehensive La Ressource narrowly defeated Piaye Secondary by 4 runs. Vieux Fort Comprehensive batting first was dismissed for 93 in 22.3 overs, with JeannickSerieux making 31.
For Piaye Secondary, the wickets were shared equally between Shervin George with 5 for 15 and Shelton St. Rose 5 for 22.
Chasing 94 for victory, Piaye Secondary folded under pressure and was bowled out for 89 in 18.3 overs, with Nick Andrew making 22.
Bowling for Vieux Fort Comprehensive, Rangene Francois had 5 for 10, Zephaniah Edwin 2 for 10 and Jamal Joseph 2 for 19.
To date the leading run scorers in the tournament are KimaniMelius of the Babonneau Secondary with 325 runs and a highest score of 196 not out, Rene Montoute, also of of the Babonneau Secondary with 277 runs and a highest score of 150 and Zachary Edmund of the Grande Riviere Secondary with 248 runs and a highest score of 157 not out.
