Wednesday’s match in the St. Lucia Semi Professional League (SPFL) between La Clery and Mabouya Valley was keenly contested but was a formality, at least as far as La Clery is concerned. The Castries team has cemented their place in the semi final round seemingly for a while now so their 1-0 win against Mabouya Valley was just icing on the cake, The lone goal of the match came in the 7th minute from Jonathan Aliene. The La Clery team created a few chances as did the Mabouya Valley squad but no one was able to either find an equalizer or, in the case of La Clery, make the game comfortable.

Gros Islet was also expected to seal their semi- final spot in their match against a resurgent Choiseul outfit on Friday night.

Sunday presents a very interesting spectacle in this year’s top tier competition. That’s when Mabouya Valley will get a second chance at attempting to unseat Central Castries who are in 4th place. The Valley team will face Canaries who also have an outside chance of securing a semi- final berth. Sunday evening’s match has all to play for. If Mabouya Valley beat Canaries in what is the last game for both teams, they will secure 4th spot, knocking a Central Castries team, with no more games left, out of the race.  Canaries on the other hand need to beat Mabouya Valley by 3 clear goals to secure that prized 4th spot. Vieux Fort South is the other secured semi- finalist in second place.
