Saint Lucia’s National Senior Men’s Football team, the Piton Boyz, have shown remarkable resilience by securing three consecutive victories in their CONCACAF Nations League challenge.

On Friday, October 2, the team achieved a decisive 3-0 victory against Guadeloupe at the Wildey Astroturf in Barbados, extending their winning streak in the tournament.

Following his impressive hat-trick against Bermuda in their recent home game at the Daren Sammy Cricket Ground [DSCG], the 22-year-old unattached striker not only scored early in the fifth minute of Friday’s match but also transformed into a playmaker to assist his teammates, propelling Saint Lucia to the top of Group B.

In addition, the striker contributed two assists during the 3-0 win over Guadeloupe after having netted the first three goals in a 5-2 home victory against Bermuda.

Head coach Rajesh Latchoo made strategic adjustments by replacing Shevon Byron and Melvin Doxilly—both nursing minor injuries—with Gregson President and Ajani Louis. Despite Guadeloupe controlling much of the possession on a rainy day, the Piton Boyz capitalized on their opportunities, landing four shots on target compared to Guadeloupe’s zero.

“We’re proud of the boys. They went out there and played for the country,” said Latchoo in a post-match conference.

He emphasized the players’ commitment to the team’s strategy, noting that this experience serves as preparation for future challenges such as the Gold Cup.

With this victory, Saint Lucia with nine points, trails Barbados in Group B who have ten points and are set to face winless Bermuda.

Ranked 28th in Concacaf, Saint Lucia has triumphed over Bermuda (24th) once and Guadeloupe (15th) twice. The third and final group window will take place in Bermuda during the second week of November, where Saint Lucia will face the Gombey Warriors and conclude the campaign against Barbados.

After their home loss to Barbados, Saint Lucia welcomed Arkell Jude-Boyd to the squad and recently brought in Donavan Phillip for the matches against Guadeloupe. Coach Latchoo is optimistic about having even more options for the November window, aiming for victory and a chance to qualify for the Gold Cup.

“Next is recovery for the next cycle. They’ll return to their clubs, and we’ll monitor their condition, especially the foreign players, to ensure they’re healthy for November,” Latchoo explained. “The goal remains clear: three points, three points, and six points again.”
