Saint Lucia to Observe International Day for Persons with Disabilities

International Day for Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) is celebrated each year on December 3rd, and the Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention, and Persons with Disabilities is primed and ready for this year’s observance.

The Planning Committee is dedicated to promoting visibility, empowerment, and inclusive participation for Persons with Disabilities across all sectors of society.

The 2025 celebration will take place at the Vieux Fort Town Square from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. and will serve as a dynamic platform for raising awareness, advocating for rights, and recognizing the significant contributions of persons with disabilities to national development.

An official ceremony will kick off the day, followed by exhibitions from several organizations that support individuals with special needs. These showcases will highlight their services and showcase the talents of their members across various fields.

This observance underscores the Government of Saint Lucia’s commitment to fostering a more equitable and accessible society—one where every Saint Lucian, regardless of ability, is acknowledged, empowered, and included in the nation’s progress.

Through this celebration, the Ministry will not only emphasize inclusion but also work to strengthen the institutional framework for disability affairs in the country.
