Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre confidently stated that his ruling Saint Lucia Labour Party (SLP) administration has made significant strides for the citizenry and is assured of its success in the upcoming polls on December 1.
As the momentum builds in this final stretch toward the elections, the SLP is firmly focused on sending a clear message to the electorate about their readiness to govern again, bolstered by the addition of former top members of the United Workers Party (UWP) leadership joining ranks with the SLP.
PM Pierre unequivocally emphasized that the SLP government has showcased exemplary stewardship amidst challenging socioeconomic conditions both locally and globally.
“We have delivered, and we have a comprehensive booklet detailing our projects,” he asserted.
To back this claim, PM Pierre revealed, “This is the first government to publish a booklet about their achievements …documenting what we’ve accomplished for the people of Saint Lucia, and it’s all on record—34 pages and more.”
He declared, “Our record speaks for itself. We have delivered to all sectors of society, and we urge the people to allow us to continue this important work.”
Regarding the SLP’s lineup of candidates for the upcoming general elections, which includes promising new prospects, PM Pierre expressed his enthusiasm: “I am genuinely excited about our slate. We have highly capable candidates who have demonstrated their potential.”
He added, “Our new candidates have engaged in raising the level of debate, steering clear of distractions and focusing instead on the concrete projects planned for their respective constituencies.”
He continued, “Our accomplishments and our record will carry us through, and I challenge anyone to examine our achievements and where the country stands today.”
PM Pierre outlined the attributes of some of the standout candidates:
– Dr. Shanda Harracksingh , candidate for Micoud South: A dedicated practicing doctor with over 15 years of community service, she has deep roots in the community and is committed to serving at a higher level in government.
– Lisa Jawahir , candidate for South East Castries: Despite facing criticism, she remains resolute.
– Danny Butcher , candidate for Vieux Fort South: Described as a “gem,” he is an educator and PhD student who has devoted his life to serving the community.
– Keithson Charles , candidate for Choiseul: A community musician and electrician, he has consistently worked alongside the people.
– John Paul Estaphane , candidate for Babonneau: Known for his approachable nature and strong community relations.
PM Pierre concluded, “I am ready for these elections. It’s a clear test of what this government has accomplished, and we are running on our solid record.”
