International Men’s Day is a significant annual event celebrated on November 19. This year, the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) of Saint Lucia actively participated in the celebration, showcasing profound appreciation for the contributions of men and boys.

The theme for International Men’s Day 2025, “Celebrating Men and Boys,” unequivocally highlights the invaluable roles men and boys play in society. It is imperative to recognize their importance and acknowledge their positive impact.

This day serves as a vital opportunity to reflect on men’s well-being and the positive influence they exert in the world.

On November 19, CDF, the island’s major cultural and artistic entity, stated online, “Today, the Cultural Development Foundation (CDF) proudly honors the men who strengthen, shape, and safeguard our creative and cultural landscape.”

Their post further emphasized, “To the CDF men—our artists, craftsmen, culture bearers, community mobilizers, stage crews, mentors, writers, technicians, musicians, and leaders—thank you. Your dedication fuels the heartbeat of our nation’s cultural identity. Your creativity inspires. Your resilience uplifts. Your service empowers. We celebrate you today and every day.”

The CDF concluded with a powerful message, “Happy International Men’s Day to the men of CDF and to all men contributing to Saint Lucia’s cultural and creative future.”

Key goals for International Men’s Day and related initiatives focused on celebrating men and boys are clear and essential:

Recognize Positive Contributions: Acknowledge the vital roles men play in families, workplaces, communities, and society at large.

Promote Well-Being and Health: Highlight the physical, mental, and emotional health needs of men and boys, and actively work to reduce the stigma around seeking help.

Encourage Positive Role Models: Elevate examples of men who embody responsibility, empathy, leadership, and service.

Support Healthy Masculinities: Challenge harmful stereotypes and promote inclusive, non-violent expressions of masculinity.

Strengthen Families and Communities: Emphasize the significance of responsible fatherhood, caregiving, and supportive relationships.

Address Inequalities Affecting Men: Draw attention to critical issues such as male suicide rates, workplace stress, and health disparities, while ensuring a balanced approach to gender equality.

Foster Mentorship and Education: Promote guidance and opportunities for boys and young men to excel academically, professionally, and personally.

Promote Equality and Collaboration: Inspire constructive dialogue between all genders to create an inclusive society. These goals must be boldly pursued to reinforce the positive impact of men and boys everywhere.
