Corinth Secondary Clinches Under-15 Schools Cricket Title

Corinth Secondary School (CSS) has reclaimed its cricketing glory, triumphantly securing the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports Under-15 School 40 Over Cricket Championship after more than a decade.

In a commanding display, Corinth defeated Choiseul Secondary School (CSS) by six wickets during an intense showdown at the Gros Islet Playing Field on Thursday.

After winning the toss, CSS chose to bat, setting a competitive total of 146 all out in 35.5 overs. Kerlan Daniel anchored the innings with a solid 48 runs, supported by Samuel Jean’s 25 and Shervon Mathurin’s 14.

However, CSS’s Ethan St. Marthe was outstanding, claiming four wickets for just 15 runs. Nicken Justin added to the pressure with three wickets for 19 runs, while Tristan Wilson and Daniel Lorde contributed with a wicket each.

Facing a target of 147 to win, CSS approached the chase with determination, successfully accomplishing it in just 23.3 overs, ending at 149 for four. Daniel Lorde led the effort with a composed 32 runs, while Yorick Joseph remained unbeaten on 16. Jasha Louis chipped in with 15 runs, and Tristan Wilson retired hurt with 11.

Notably, extras played a significant role in the run total, contributing an impressive 63 runs. On the bowling front, Liam Wilson captured two wickets for 44 runs, and both Nyhile Charles and Samuel Jean took one wicket apiece.

During the post-match presentation, the following awards were rightfully distributed for standout performances:

Most Runs: Jean Claude Emmanuel (St. Mary’s College) – 365 runs.

Most Wickets:Trevern Edward (Saint Lucia Sports Academy) – 16 wickets.

Highest Individual Score: Jean Claude Emmanuel – 172 not out.

Century Makers: Jean Claude Emmanuel – 172 not out and 106.

Best Bowling Figures: Alhil Cyril (Leon Hess Comprehensive) – nine for 22 in 6.3 overs.

Hat Trick Hero: Malik Narcisse (St. Mary’s College versus Sir Ira Simmons Secondary).

MVP of the Tournament: Jean Claude Emmanuel (St. Mary’s College).

MVP of the Finals: Ethan St. Marthe (Corinth Secondary School).
