Tough Contest in SPFL Challenge

The SPFL tournament is in full swing, showcasing thrilling highlights with local athletes shining in the regional and global sporting arenas. Saint Lucia is currently hosting its CPL home leg matches from August 12 to 21, adding to the excitement.

Recent match results have kept the competition fierce. On August 9, defending Tier 1 champions La Clery triumphed over Soufriere with a score of 2-1 in a closely contested match.

Soufriere took an early lead with a goal from William Cenac in the 7th minute. However, La Clery responded decisively, with Yanick Noel equalizing in the 35th minute and then scoring again in the 67th minute to secure the win.

In another match on the same day, Vieux Fort North edged out Central Castries 2-1 in a tightly fought encounter. Rigueleme Elva put Vieux Fort North ahead in the 17th minute, but Central Castries quickly equalized with a goal from Rai Gaspard in the 22nd minute.

Eldric Popo then netted the winner for Vieux Fort North in the 66th minute.

On August 8, at the Phillip Marcellin Grounds, Vieux Fort South claimed victory over Canaries with a score of 4-2 after establishing a commanding 3-0 lead by halftime.

The opening surge was driven by Asani Louis , who scored in the 10th and 32nd minutes, with Shan Alfred adding another goal in the 25th minute.

Canaries fought back with goals from O’Neal Toussaint in the 48th minute and Cassius Joseph in the 49th minute, but Shawn Joseph sealed the deal for Vieux Fort South with a goal in the 90+3 minute.

The SPFL continues to provide thrilling action and unforgettable moments for fans and players alike.
