The SLFA Inc. Boys Under 12 District League football competition continued over the weekend with some exciting matchups. The tournament which is sponsored by The Ministry of Youth development & Sports, National Lotteries Authority and ACADO featured the weekends action at the SLFA Technical Centre in Grande Riviere Dennery.
In the first of a double header on Saturday 7th June, Central Castries made light work of Marchand winning 4 – 0, with a hat trick from Isiah Pinel, scoring in the 31st, 36th and 40th minutes after Reuben Harris had opened the scoring in the 30th min.
In the day’s final encounter La Clery registered their first win the competition with a 4 – 1 victory over South Castries after leading 3 – 1 at the half.
Omari Mathew opened the scoring in the 7th, followed by Zion Sylvester’s 20th minute addition.
Tariq Louis scored for South Castries in the 15th min.
It must be noted that South Castries is the only team in the competition featuring female players.
On Sunday 8th June only one game was played as Vieux Fort North failed to show up for their encounter against Mon Repos.
Nevertheless, Anse La Raye defeated Choiseul 2 – 1 in a hard-fought encounter. They scored their goals with a brace from Mitchel Deterville in the 16th & 57th min.
Kimael Charlemagne scored Choiseul’s lone goal in the 36th min.
