Elite Invitational Track and Field Set for MPP

On Sunday, the 9th edition of the Elite Invitational Track and
Field Meet will take place at the Mindoo Phillip Park, starting at
10:00 a.m., weather permitting.

Approximately 600 athletes from 16 schools and clubs across
the island are expected to participate.

Once the opening ceremony is completed, the action will begin,
with athletes competing across six age categories: 7-8, 9-10, 11-
12, 13-14, 15-17, and over 17 years (both male and female).

One of the most intriguing aspects of this annual meet is its
sponsorship model, where past and present athletes, officials,
and local businesses lend their support by associating their
names with various events.

Athletes will compete in 65 events, ranging from short sprints to
challenging middle-distance races, including the 80m, 100m,
150m, 200m, 300m, 400m, 800m, and 1500m.

Field events will also provide an exciting showcase of talent
with competitions in high jump, long jump, and javelin throw.
The relay races will serve as the grand finale, concluding the
day’s events.

With the meet’s reputation growing each year, athletes will aim
for personal bests, podium finishes, and perhaps even a chance
to secure their place among Saint Lucia’s track and field elite.
