Challenge Runners Here Today

OVER two dozen runners will be contesting the Pitons Peak Marathon, part of the Southern Caribbean Challenge, staged by sports travel company, Z Adventures. The bulk of the group will be arriving in St. Lucia aboard the Carnival Liberty cruise vessel this morning.

While in St Lucia, the runners will link up with local runners to contest distances from five kilometers up to a full marathon, on a loop route in Cul de Sac. St. Lucia aside, Organisers are coordinating other runs over the course of a week in Puerto Rico, the US Virgin Islands, St. Kitts and Nevis, Barbados, and St. Maarten.

During the week, adventurers and sports enthusiasts are taking in a trip described as “filled with unique running challenges and cultural immersion.”

Local coordination is being handled by the Ministry of Youth Development and Sports, in collaboration with the Ministry of Tourism, Heritage and Creative Industries.
