Remain Vigilant

THE EDITOR:
THE DSH project for the South is an opportunity which the SLP deliberated upon for over two years and never entertained the idea of sharing the concept with the public. More importantly, Invest St. Lucia spent over two years of expensive man hours with the concurrence of the St. Lucia Labour Party, simultaneously making empty promises to the investors – a practice which cost them the elections. St. Lucians simply had enough of an administration who could not or were terrified of making decisions based on their poor judgements like Rochamel, Grynberg, IMPACS and the Lambirds fiasco to name but a few.

Today, we have a Prime Minister with new ideas and an abundance of energy keeping St. Lucians abreast with whatever developments are presented, as St. Lucia belongs to all of us. Over 46,000 St. Lucians voted the United Workers Party into power and the current Prime Minister attained 2,495 votes beating his opponent by some 1094 votes while our former Prime Minister registered a significant drop in popularity regaining his seat by some 230 votes.

The St. Lucia economy has struggled with negative growth for some four years under the SLP administration bringing about an unacceptable level of unemployment. It is the duty of the current Prime Minister and his administration to divert the course of negative growth and offer a new and enlightening experience to our people.

The recent demonstration and a town hall meeting in the south of the island bore fingerprints of a discredited political party attempting to dwell amongst a group of concerned citizens. St. Lucians who voted in large numbers for the present administration must remain vigilant for the same persons who tried vehemently to discredit the current Prime Minister. One of then who has been black listed by the most powerful nation on earth continues to pose as a saviour but in reality there remains questions about him among friends and enemies alike.

Hatred and deceit have never been the hallmark of success and it is incredible that the individuals who followed that path have failed to learn from their endeavours. St. Lucians endured their ineptitude for 15 years and have now drawn a line in the sand to mark their full understanding of individuals determined to disguise them.
