TOUGHNESS Youth and El Ninos are through to the finals of the Saint Lucia football Association Inc. Eastern Zone scheduled for Saturday 18th May at the Desruisseaux Playing Field.
In semifinal action on Saturday May 11th, in game 1, Togetherness Youth got the better of TGM 4 – 0, with Zacky Hopes, Ethan Avril, Kenicious Alexander and Keylan Harris being the goal scorers.
The second semifinal was played between El Ninos and RYO, which turned out to be a thrilling encounter.
Edric Popo shot El Ninos into the lead in the 13th minute of play, with RYO quickly equalizing in the 15th minute via the boots of Jaquan Joseph. No further goals were scored as the half ended 1 – 1.
At the resumption RYO surged into the lead with a goal by Ethan Oculle only for El Ninos to gain the equalizer with an own goal by Leon Malcom in the 50th minute.
This was as far it would go as the game ended 2 – 2. It was now time for the dreaded penalty kicks which witnessed El Ninos prevailing 4 – 3.
The final preliminary round of matches in the SLFA Inc Northern Zone Under- 11 Football Competition was played at the SAB on Saturday 11th May 2019.
The intensity level continued with a thrilling end to Group A.
Monchy FC needed a win by a two clear goal margin to advance to the semifinals, and New Generation had their work cut out for them in order to advance.
But this is how it all shaped up on the day.
GMC squeezed past New Generations 1 – 0 with a goal by Michael Justin in the 5th minute.
Northern United won by default over Big Players, remaining undefeated in the competition.
FC Pioneers got the better of Flames United 1 – 0. with Mani Poleon scoring the winning goal in the 25th minute.
Lancers FC made light work of B1 FC defeating them 4 – 0. They got their goals from Nilson Williams in the 5th minute, Keenan Joseph in the 15th minute and Mc Quain Byron in the 25th and 26th minute.
In the day’s surprise encounter, Monchy FC out played VSADC to register a 4 – 2 victory. Leading the way for Monchy, were Malik Louis in the 10th minute, a brace by Joshua Norley in the 34th and 40th minute and Jaden Morille in the 43rd minute.
VSADC’s goals were scored by Armani Lesmond in the 11th minute and Jarvis Weekes in the 20th minute.
The semifinals will be played this coming weekend with the top two teams from each group squaring off.
The grand finals of the SLFA Inc. Western Zone Under -13 Football competition took place at the Marigot Playing Field on Saturday 11th May 2019.
The Third Place Play Off was played between CT Foundation and Bays FC, with CT coming from a one goal deficit to win the encounter 2 – 1. They got their goals from Jeremiah Berthia in the 21st minute and LecheciaValty in the 29th mnute.
Jehann Solomon opened the scoring for Bays FC in the 5th minute.
In the grand final Adriana Auguste shot 1987 All Stars into the lead in the 2nd minute of the game only for CaliceMondesir to equalize for No Fear in the 9th minute.
As the game swung back and forth JohnpaeSeraphine scored the winner in the 30th minute, to give 1987 All Stars a 2 – 1 victory and the Championship.
At the end of the competition, the placings are as follows: 1st – 1987 All Stars; 2nd – No Fear FC and 3rd – CT Foundation.
Meanwhile, T Valley FC were crowned champions of the Western Zone Total Construction Cup when they defeated 1987 All Stars 2 – 1 in the Final.
Brendon Modeste shot T Valley FC into the lead in the 11th minute of the game, only for Erickson Reid to equalize on the brink of half time as the half ended 1 – 1.
Following the resumption both teams sought the go ahead goal, but it was T Valley who succeeded with a strike by Ishmael Williams in the 65th minute, to give them the much desired victory.
