Saint Lucian High Court Judge Shawn Innocent has been temporarily de-rostered according to a release from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court {ECSC} dated May 12th, 2025.
Innocent was charged on April 28th, 2025, with the indictable offence of “assault with a deadly instrument,” contrary to section 186{E} of the Criminal Code of Grenada where he presided. Innocent has been granted bail and is expected to respond to the allegations when the case is called.

The Criminal Court of Grenada has already taken the decision to install another judge effective June 1st, 2025.
The ECSC says it is approaching this matter with the utmost seriousness while it is “mindful of Justice Innocent’s fundamental rights under the constitution.” The ECSC believes its actions will demonstrate its dedication to the rule of law and maintaining the integrity of the judiciary.
The Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court was established in 1967.
