SLFA’s Junior League Competition Heats Up

THE Saint Lucia Football Association [SLFA] Inc. Junior League Competition is in full swing, showcasing intense matches and vibrant team performances. 

On past Saturday, the SLFA Inc. Under 12 Football League competition took place at the Corinth Playing Field.

Anse La Raye delivered a commanding performance against South Castries, winning 3 – 0. Shervin Charles, Mitchell Deterville, and Zezack Minville scored in the 6th, 10th, and 14th minutes, respectively, sealing the victory decisively.

In another match, Central Castries and Marchand battled to a 1 – 1 draw. N. William netted for Marchand in the 20th minute, while Shaquan Prospere scored a late equalizer for Central Castries in the 49th minute.

At the Technical Center in Grande Riviere, Mabouya Valley triumphed over Vieux South with a 1 – 0 victory, thanks to a goal from Zackim Francois, who scored in the 34th minute.

Vieux Fort North and Dennery played out an exhilarating 3 – 3 draw. Dawson Charles, Terrel Daniel, and Jacob James found the net for Vieux North in the 28th, 54th, and 64th minutes. Dennery responded through Aiden Biscette, who scored in the 52nd and 66th minutes, and Jordan Jn. Baptiste, who opened the scoring in the 1st minute.

Desruisseaux defeated Micoud 2 – 1, with Kevlon Joseph scoring in the 39th minute and Gervin Altidore contributing an own goal. Tyresse James netted the lone goal for Micoud.

In the SLFA Inc. Senior Men competition, Pioneers FC and Dominators ended in a 1 – 1 draw. Josiah Ferdinand scored for Dominators in the 25th minute, but Demaric Gabriel equalized for the Pioneers in the 77th minute.

Meanwhile, the 2024 Hon. Shawn Edward Football Tournament continued over the weekend.

On Saturday, Togetherness Youth dominated R.Y.O with a stunning 6-0 victory. Merquain Alexander scored twice in the 14th and 49th minutes, Madison Stanislaus added two more in the 31st and 76th minutes, and Zacky Haper capped off the scoring with two goals in the 71st and 77th minutes.

In the second match, Chesters Sports Club secured a 3-1 victory over Survivals FC, with Kervon Edward scoring in the 18th minute, Crien Albert contributing in the 74th minute, and an own goal from Errol Maquis. Vernon Abbot managed to score for Survivals in the 50th minute.

Sunday’s scheduled games were postponed due to persistent inclement weather.
