SLCTVET and CCLEC Sign MOU in Partnership Deal

.

The Saint Lucia Council for Technical and Vocational Education and Training (SLCTVET) is says it is proud to establish a partnership with the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council (CCLEC).

This collaboration was penned recently with a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the two organizations, which aims to develop training standards relevant to the operations of the CCLEC e-learning platform and other modes of delivery. SLCTVET will also assist with the monitoring of training of employees of the CCLEC member administrations towards achieving National Vocational Qualification (NVQ) or Caribbean Vocational Qualification (CVQ).

Permanent Secretary of the Caribbean Customs Law Enforcement Council, Claude Paul        says “Customs administrations around the region are involved in a number of in-house training programmes that are not necessarily recognised by the government as part of the criteria for promotion purposes. So, what we are thinking is that if we can get our custom courses recognised and part of a certification offered by TVET and in the longer run the CVQ for the wider region, that it will assist us in using the customs courses as part of the official criteria for promotion of customs officers.”

CCLEC intends to use the Competency-Based Education and Training (CBET) methodology during in-house training of employees of member administrations. This in-house training will provide customs officers with the relevant knowledge and skills to perform their duties, and get accredited certifications for having prior learning through the specialized courses offered by the CCLEC or experience on the job.
