Prime Minister Philip J. Pierre has announced that Saint Lucia’s next constitutionally scheduled general elections will occur on December 1.

During a spirited rally at the Castries Market Steps on Sunday, PM Pierre rallied supporters of the St. Lucia Labour Party (SLP) and declared that Nomination Day will take place on November 2.

In response to persistent calls from opposition forces to ‘Ring the Bell,’ and backed by his SLP political machinery, PM Pierre has boldly opted for ‘Snap Elections’ ahead of the constitutionally due elections in November 2026.

The Prime Minister firmly asserts that his administration has made significant strides across various sectors, including health, social services, education, arts and entertainment, labor and wages, increased pensions for seniors, housing, infrastructure, and numerous work programs.

After four years in office, the nation’s leader confidently states, “I take pride in the remarkable progress we’ve achieved, despite the formidable challenges we’ve faced.”

The SLP has presented a full slate of 15 candidates ready to contest the elections, while maintaining alliances with independent candidates Stephenson King and Richard Frederick for the highly contested North Castries and Central Castries seats.

Meanwhile, the main opposition United Workers Party (UWP) is vigorously canvassing and campaigning in key constituencies, determined to elevate the profiles of their seasoned and new candidates.

UWP Opposition Leader Allen Chastanet confidently asserts that his party is fully prepared for the challenge, with a dedicated team of men and women ready for the battle ahead.
