Saint Lucia’s national table tennis team has earned a place in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Caribbean Senior Table Tennis Championships following an impressive 3–1 victory over Guyana at the Garfield Sobers Sports Complex in Wildey, Barbados.

Grouped in a tough opening round with regional powerhouses the Dominican Republic and Guyana, the Saint Lucian squad showed grit and determination, bouncing back from an early loss to the Dominicans to secure their place in the knockout stage. This marks a significant improvement on last year’s performance.
Leading the charge was D’Andre Calderon, whose stellar play saw him claim two hard-fought victories, 3–1 and 3–2, showcasing both technical mastery and mental resilience. Joshua Lubin then sealed the tie for Saint Lucia with a commanding 3–1 win, halting Guyana’s momentum and propelling the team into the next round.
Earlier in the tournament, Calderon delivered a standout performance against Dominican Republic’s Rafael Cabrera, a top-seeded player and French Pro League competitor. Despite falling just short in a five-set thriller (11–8, 5–11, 11–6, 5–11, 11–7), Calderon’s effort highlighted the team’s unyielding spirit.
Teammate Manie Eleuthere also fought valiantly, narrowly losing to Ramon Vila in straight but tightly contested sets (11–9, 11–7, 12–10). With unwavering support from Association President Teddy Matthews, the team—consisting of Calderon, Lubin, Eleuthere, and Dawitt Nurse—now sets its sights on upcoming men’s doubles and singles events.
Adding to the excitement, Joshua Lubin and Manie Eleuthere have both qualified for the Pan American Under-23 Games this summer in Paraguay, a testament to the rising standard of table tennis in Saint Lucia.
Saint Lucia will next face Trinidad and Tobago in a crucial quarterfinal clash as they continue their pursuit of regional glory.
