Saint Lucian soca sensation Wendel Winter, known as “Motto,” has navigated a challenging journey to rise to the forefront of the soca music scene. He has faced the relentless grind required to establish a name and a presence in the fiercely competitive music industry.
This young, multi-talented Soca artist commands attention with his dynamic musical performances, infused with trendy catchphrases that resonate deeply with his fan base.
Motto is not just an artist; he is the producer, chief executive, and founder of his music label, Team Fox Music.
Recently, he received recognition from New York State Senator Jesse Hamilton for his commitment to promoting Caribbean music and culture worldwide. He is also active on Instagram, further engaging with his audience.

Motto spoke to THE VOICE about his plans for the upcoming 2K25 season, his expectations, and the appeal of his growing fan base. He also introduced a new feature adventure initiative – Dwivé Experience.
R.A: What’s in store for Motto this carnival season? Should fans expect a hot track release?
Motto: This season, I am focusing on major music releases, a collaboration with Island Tribe, and launching a Motto ‘T-Shirt’ section. I’ve already released eight songs, encompassing everything from Soca to Dennery Segment, and I have three more tracks slated for release. I’m committed to reviving the Dennery Segment because I believe it has lost some of its shine. As artists and producers, we veered off track, but this year, I’m back to producing the Dennery Segment sound that I’m known for. My two latest tracks are “Bumper” by Frenchman and “Clap,” featuring both myself and Chrome. My standout singles this year are “Team No Sleep,” a power Soca anthem, and my main groovy track, “Vaval Again.”
R.A: Your music has gained popularity locally, regionally, and internationally. How do you generate the drive and energy to excel in your performances?
Motto: I am driven by a sense of purpose. As the producer, engineer, marketer, and entertainer, I know this is a God-given gift, allowing me to juggle everything effectively. Time management is second nature to me. When I’m not performing, I’m in the studio, handling marketing, branding, or collaborating. Everything aligns perfectly at this stage in my life and I am grateful for it.
R.A: What are your biggest expectations for the 2K25 season?
Motto: Right now, we have an exciting initiative called the Soca Fitness Class, which challenges participants to learn a dance or fitness routine—either acoustic or on social media—for a chance to win two costumes from the Island Tribe carnival band and two tickets for my vibe: Dwivé Experience.
I anticipate that the road will be electrifying, especially with my new song gaining traction and ample radio play. I expect its popularity to soar. “Team No Sleep” is definitely my favorite this year; I’ve performed it multiple times in the US, and the energy it brings on stage is unmatched. From Atlanta Carnival to shows in Miami and a J’Ouvert event in Toronto last week, the song is thriving.
