St. Lucia’s Julien Alfred has done it again. Alfred beat veteran Ivorian Marie-Josee Ta Lou-Smith and Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith in second and third place respectively with a time of 10.89 at her season opener in Oslo, Norway.

Alfred looked smooth in her first 100m of the year and is already considered the one to beat in September at the World Athletics Championships in Tokyo, Japan.
Speaking after the race Alfred said, “It was my first race of the season, so I was a little rusty, but I got the win under my belt, which is the main thing.
“I am Olympic champion, so I am the one to beat, but I really want to add world champion to my name.”
Alfred’s 10.89 seconds on Thursday is the second fastest time this year. Melissa Jefferson-Wooden from the United States recorded 10.73 earlier this year.
Julien Alfred is expected to compete again this weekend in Stockholm, Sweden.
Alfred turned 24 only two days before the race.
