Saint Lucia’s golden girl Julien Alfred delivered a stunning performance at the Wanda Diamond League 2025, breaking a 31-year-old meeting record in the women’s 100m event.

Alfred powered to the finish line in 10.75 seconds (+0.9 m/s), erasing the previous record of 10.90 seconds set by Russia’s Irina Privalova in 1994. It marked Alfred’s second consecutive Diamond League victory, having also won the 100m in Oslo with 10.89 seconds.
Trailing her was British sprint star Dina Asher-Smith, who clocked 10.93 seconds, followed by Marie-Josée Ta Lou-Smith of the Ivory Coast in 11.00.
“After Oslo, I had to have a long chat with my coach,” Alfred admitted. “He reassured me that I’m in great shape because I was doubting myself. But I’m happy today with how the race went.”
Alfred’s dominant run solidifies her place as one of the world’s top sprinters and a fierce contender as the 2025 athletics season heats up.
