‘Kingdom Night’ takes center stage tonight as the Saint Lucia Jazz and Arts Festival ramps up with the main acts at the iconic Pigeon Point Landmark.

Music enthusiasts, especially gospel fans, are poised for an entertaining experience as the jazz and arts extravaganza unfolds, bolstered by a series of successful fringe events that have drawn capacity crowds.

The Kingdom Night lineup features headlining act Tasha Cobbs, Maverick City, JCK Worship, Cleopatra Jules, Schreffler Maxwell, Vincent Pierre, and Anchele.

The Saint Lucia Tourism Authority (SLTA) invites patrons to “embark on a transcendent journey with Kingdom Night, an ethereal gospel celebration that calls to the soul.”

The event is set to take place at 7:30 p.m.

Tourism Minister Dr. Ernest Hilaire, Monday, addressed recent controversies surrounding Maverick City’s participation, stating, “We have confirmed with Maverick City that they will be present tonight and deliver an unforgettable performance.”

He emphasised that the organisers are under contract with Maverick City for this show, and all promotional materials have been approved by them, despite some internal changes. “They’ve assured us that the full band will perform, with adjustments that are out of our control.”

Following an unprecedented turnout for the festival’s opening night at Mindoo Phillip Park last Friday, Dr. Hilaire said, “Every community jazz event since has exceeded our expectations.”

He highlighted the impressive attendance at weekend events in Babonneau, Anse La Raye, Soufriere, and Vieux Fort.

In a pre-cabinet meeting on Monday, he disclosed that Soufriere Jazz attracted over 5,000 attendees, while communities like Bexon and Desruisseaux achieved record crowds compared to last year.

He particularly praised the inaugural Micoud Jazz – Jazz en Vierge and expressed approval for the local talent showcased at Vieux Fort Jazz, saying, “They aimed for a more authentic jazz feel, and the turnout was exceptional.”

Dr. Hilaire declared, “Each community must define its brand and what it offers. We urge every locality to establish its unique vibe and experience.”
