The Ministry of Infrastructure, Ports Services, and Energy has advised that the Vieux Secrieux Road Rehabilitation Project is entering its final phase, with the major civil works now substantially completed.

The drainage infrastructure along the project corridor has been completed to improve the conveyance of stormwater, reduce the risk of flooding and erosion, and protect the integrity of the road pavement. Retaining structures have also been constructed at critical locations to enhance slope and roadway stability, safeguard adjoining properties, and improve the overall safety and resilience of the roadway.

Sidewalks have been constructed along the project corridor to improve pedestrian access and safety throughout the community. Utility relocation works have also been undertaken to accommodate the upgraded road alignment and associated infrastructure. These works include the relocation of WASCO pipelines, adjustments to water service infrastructure, and the repositioning of electrical poles where required.

Reinstatement works have also been undertaken at properties affected by the road rehabilitation works. Where required, retaining structures have been constructed to restore affected areas, protect adjoining properties, and ensure their stability following the road improvement works.

As part of the pavement works, an asphalt regulating course has been placed to correct surface irregularities and establish the required road profile in preparation for the application of the final pavement layer. Manholes have also been adjusted to the required finished levels to align with the upgraded roadway.

The road is currently motorable and provides improved access through the community. However, motorists have been advised to exercise caution when traversing the area, as construction activities are ongoing and the project has not yet been fully completed.

The remaining major pavement activity involves the placement of the final pavement layer, which is expected to commence as early as September 2026 and will represent a significant step towards the completion of the Vieux Secrieux Road Rehabilitation Project.

Upon completion of the final surfacing and associated finishing works, the project will provide the Vieux Secrieux community and the wider motoring public with an improved roadway incorporating upgraded drainage, pavement, pedestrian facilities, retaining structures, and associated infrastructure. These improvements are expected to contribute to a safer, more reliable, and more resilient access for residents and road users.
