Guns and Ammunition Seized, Car Impounded during Police Operation

DURING the most recent press conference held by the Royal Saint Lucia Police Force (RSLPF), the Deputy Commander of the Special Services Unit, Inspector Small, declared that the Special Services Unit would augment patrols and enhance its presence.

The announcement was succeeded by action. On Wednesday, 20 November 2024, at approximately 7:50 p.m., the Special Operations Team of the RSLPF executed a series of drills in the Babonneau area. Forty-three motor vehicles were inspected, five citations were given, and one vehicle was impounded.

During a vehicle search, cops seized a pistol equipped with a magazine holding twelve rounds of ammo. The three male occupants of the vehicle were apprehended for firearm possession and ammo possession.

RSLPF operations persisted into the early hours of Thursday, 21 November 2024. After the Special Services Unit’s (SSU) reaction to a gunshot event, the officers, while conducting a tactical patrol, had reason to confront two occupants of a motor vehicle. A search of the vehicle led to the discovery and confiscation of one firearm, accompanied by a magazine and 10 rounds of ammunition.

Consequently, two individuals were apprehended for offences of firearm possession and ammunition possession.

These focused measures addressing incidences of gun violence will persist nationwide to reinstate public safety. The Royal Saint Lucia Police Force says it will be resolute in its dedication to safeguarding the community.
