On Thursday, June 6, 2024, around 5:00 PM, police officers from the Special Services Unit (SSU) responded to reports of gunfire near Maynard Hill in Castries. They apprehended twenty-eight-year-old Cuthbert Similien, a resident of Bois Patat, Castries. During a search, the SSU officers discovered six rounds of ammunition on his person.
The case was referred to the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Castries, where Cuthbert Similien faced formal charges for possession of ammunition. He appeared before the First District Court, seeking bail. However, the court denied bail, and he was remanded into custody.
