New Phase in Sexual Harassment Policy for the Protective Services Unfolds Next Month

The Ministry of Home Affairs, Crime Prevention and Persons with Disabilities, in collaboration with the Ministry of National Security, has been engaged in several months of deliberations to create an anti-sexual harassment policy along with related procedures for redress.

Several months of deliberations to carve out the initial policy framework progressed to hosting a series of focus group meetings and a Train the Trainer workshop in early February. That phase of the policy creation process was facilitated by Ginette Johnstone from Catalyst Plus.

Now that the three-week consultative phase of the project has been successfully concluded, a new phase in the preparatory stages to the policy formulation is slated to unfold in April this year and will once again engage stakeholders from the protective services and the Department of Gender Affairs.

This project is being supported by the Government of Saint Lucia and by the Canada-Caricom Expert Deployment Mechanism (CCEDM).
