Double Homicide At Faux-A-Chaud Sunday

Police are investigating two shooting deaths from the Faux-A-Chaud community, incidents which occurred hours apart last Sunday.

Dead are 30-year-old Solomon Joseph and 39-year-old Carlton La Corbiniere.

Joseph, it was alleged, was shot numerous times by a known assailant on Sunday morning. A suspect is currently assisting police with their investigations, Commissioner Milton Desir confirmed this week.

The incident involving the second homicide victim (La Corbiniere) occurred early Sunday evening. Police to date have yet to arrest anyone in connection to this murder.

“We have no one assisting us yet in the investigations of the matter,” Desir said.

A woman, who has been described as Joseph’s girlfriend, earlier this week, told an online publication that Joseph’s death was inevitable. Her house, the site reported, had been targeted days ago.

“We had gotten several threats saying that they were going to kill him, I knew it was coming,” the woman told Loop News.

“I was at home washing dishes when I heard the shots. By the time I got to the road I (saw) my boyfriend on the ground bleeding and gasping for air. I saw he had two gunshots (wounds) visible from his vest, so I tried to stop the bleeding, but it was only after he was pronounced dead the doctors told me he had multiple bullet wounds (in) his back as well,” she said.

Joseph’s sister also spoke about his death. Melissa Joseph said loved ones are still grappling with the news, which according to her, is even tougher, as their father, Martin, suffered the same fate last year.

Martin Joseph was Saint Lucia’s first homicide victim for 2021. Joseph and his son, (deceased) Solomon Joseph, were both targeted in a shooting incident last year, however, the latter though seriously injured, did not succumb to his injuries at the time.

Joseph was seemingly haunted by trouble, however, and his death followed shortly after.

“It (has been) a year and six months since we lost my father and three days after my sister’s birthday they killed my brother, so it’s very hard for us,” Melissa Joseph told HTS News Force recently.
