PM Pierre to Supporters: Labour Can Win All 17 Seats

By Marvlin Anthony

PRIME Minister Philip J Pierre is confident that he’ll return to government with all seventeen seats. At least that’s what he told his supporters at Tuesday’s ‘Town Hall’ gathering in Dennery.

Touting his administration’s success, he stated that “In every aspect… the Labour Party has delivered.”

“We are confident that the people will realise that and when the time comes they will return us to government with all seventeen seats,” he told the audience.

The meeting aimed to bring the Party’s leadership to the community and to invite individuals to speak to their representatives.

“In November we put 79 police recruits on the road. They have already started recruiting another 80 and by the end of this year we will have 160 new policemen, that is a fact,” he stated.

“Before the budget this year we are going to reopen Custody Suites and we are doing it!” he declared.

“In terms of taking measures, both punitive and social, [the Labour Party] has done more than the last government did to combat crime in this country and we can prove it,” he asserted.

But this week Opposition Senator Dominic Fedee told DBS News World that the Labour Party is grasping at straws.

“The Labour Party has failed the people when it comes to healthcare, when it comes to the roads… dealing with the high cost of living [and] the crime situation,” Fedee said.

Fedee claimed that the government is aware “that they have lost significant ground.”

At Tuesday’s meeting, Parliamentary Representative for Dennery South, Alfred Prospere, took the opportunity to deliver an account of the work he has completed in his constituency.
