Saint Lucia Records 23 New COVID-19 cases

PRESS RELEASE — The Ministry of Health, Wellness and Elderly Affairs today Saturday, October 30, 2021 confirms a total of twenty-three (23) new cases of COVID-19. These cases were processed on Friday, October 29, 2021 at the Ezra Long Laboratory from a total of 366 samples which were collected between October 27 and October 29, 2021. This number of positive cases makes up 6.3% of all the samples processed on that date. These new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in-country to date to 12,559.

The Ministry of Health also reports one (1) new COVID-19 related death. This death occurred on October 16, 2021. To date, the total number of COVID-19 deaths in country is 193 and the total number of COVID-19 related deaths is 62.

COVID-19 related death #62 is a 77 year old female from the Vieux Fort district. The Ministry of Health extends sincere condolences to the family, friends and loved ones of this individual.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 26 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19. This brings the number of active cases in-country to 340. Currently, one (1) individual is in critical state and six (6) others are severely ill at the Respiratory Hospital.

To date, a total of 36,767 individuals have received the first dose of the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccine and 32,091 have received the second dose. A total of 14,440 individuals have received the first dose and 9,690 individuals have received the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccinations will resume on Monday, November 1, 2021 at the Vigie Sports Complex, Soufriere Hospital, Laborie Wellness Center and the Vieux Fort Parish Hall. COVID-19 vaccine booster doses will be available at the CSA Center in Sans Souci, Castries and the Babonneau Multi-Purpose Center. Vaccinations are scheduled for distribution at all sites from 9 am to 5 pm.
