CPL T20 2021: The Excitement Continues at Warner Park

The excitement continues today (Wednesday 8th September 2021) at Warner Park in Saint Kitts and Nevis with another double header in the Hero Caribbean Premier League (CPL) as the participating teams look to grab one of the semifinal spot.

From 10.00 a.m. host Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots, following their back-to-back defeat at the hands of Saint Lucia Kings (SLK) this past weekend, will play Jamaica Tallawahs.

Under lights at 7.00 p.m. Guyana Amazon Warriors will be going all out to revenge their 51 runs defeat on Thursday 2nd, when they take on Saint Lucia Kings.

Monday was a rest day. Yesterday Jamaica Tallawahs took on Trinbago Night Riders while Barbados Royals played Guyana Amazon Warriors.

Tomorrow (Thursday 9th), from 10.00 a.m. Barbados Royals will play Trinbago Knight Riders and Saint Lucia Kings comes up against Jamaica Tallawahs at 7.00 p.m.

Meanwhile, scores in matches played over the weekend: Saturday 4th – Match No. 15 SLK versus Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots. SLK 224 for 2 at a run rate of 11.20, captain Fab du Plessis 120 not out from 60 deliveries which included 13 fours and 5 sixes, Roston Chase 64 from 31 balls, which included 7 fours and 3 sixes, the pair added 124 in 9.2 overs, Andre Fletcher 23. For the Patriots, Fawad Ahmed picked up 1 for 23 and Fabian Allen 1 for 26.

Chasing 225 for victory, the Patriots could only muster 124 and in the process suffered their first defeat in this year’s tournament losing by 100 runs. Evin Lewis top scored with 73 off 42 deliveries which included 5 fours and 6 sixes, Chris Gayle 14 and Sherfane Rutherford 11.

Bowling for SLK, Keemo Paul 3 for 23, Alzarri Joseph 3 for 27, and 1 wicket each to Wahab Riaz, Roston Chase and Kesrick Williams.

Match No.16 Barbados Royal versus Guyana Amazon Warriors. Royals 130 all out. Azam Khan 28, Johnson Charles 23, Shai Hope 22, Raymon Reifer 22. Bowling for the Warriors, Imran Tahir 3 for 34, Romario Shepherd 2 for 33, Gudakesh Kanhai 1 for 15 and Dean Smith 1 for 22.

Requiring 131 for victory, the Warriors scored 136 for the loss of 1 wicket in 14.2 overs, Chanderpaul Hemraj 105 not out from 56 deliveries which included 14 fours and 5 sixes at a strike rate of 187.50, Brendon King 19 and Shoaib Malik not out 8. Bowling for the Royals, Nyeem Young picked 1 for 32.

Sunday 5th, Match No.17 Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots versus SLK, batting first Saint Kitts and Nevis Patriots scored 118 all out in 19.3 overs. Fabian Allen 38, Devon Thomas 28 and Asif Ali 18. For SLK, Jeavor Royal 3 for 20, Samit Patel 2 for 15, Kesrick Williams 2 for 31 and 1 wicket each to Wahab Riaz and Keemo Paul.

In reply, SLK chased down the total in 15.4 overs with six wickets in hand despite losing both the openers cheaply Andre Fletcher (0) and Fab du Plessis (22). Roston Chase continues his good run-on form with the bat, scored an unbeaten 51 off 38 deliveries, Keron Cotty 19 and Tim David not out 18.

For Patriots, Fabian Allen 2 for 30, Naseem Shah 1 for 11, and Paul van Meekeren 1 for 28.

Match No. 18 Trinbago Knight Riders versus Jamaica Tallawahs. Tallawahs 144 for 7, Carlos Brathwaite 54, Imad Wasim 42 and Andre Russel not out 20. For TKR, Akeal Hosein 2 for 12, Ravi Rampaul 2 for 26 and 1 wicket each to Sunil Narine and Isuru Udana.
