Saint Lucia qualifies for the Inaugural FIBA 3×3 Americup 2021

With almost two years of no local competitions due to the pandemic, the SLBF is overjoyed at Saint Lucia’s senior Men’s qualification for the Inaugural FIBA 3×3 Americup 2021. With a rank of 120, Saint Lucia will participate in the tournament come November from the 12th to 14th. 

This is not only a first for Saint Lucia and our senior players on the 3×3 basketball’s biggest stage; but also, the first for FIBA as well hosting an 3×3 AmeriCup tournament.

This historic 3×3 competition and for the first time in nine years, will be hosted in Miami, Florida.

The Saint Lucia 3×3 Men’s team will participate in 3 pools of 3 teams qualification draw on November 12 & 13th and the winning teams to advance to the Main Draw. The SLBF intends to prepare, compete and advance to the Main Draw and rep 758 proudly.

SLBF President Leslie Collymore states: “We are excited to have qualified for the inaugural FIBA 3×3 AmeriCup 2021 tournament, and for our senior player who have felt that there is no basketball for them….but it does not stop there; we fully intend to field a competitive team and encourage our senior players to seize the opportunity and take the time to prepare from now.”

As part of the selection process for the team that will represent St Lucia, the SLBF will be hosting a series of local 3×3 tournaments island wide.  More details will be announced shortly.
