GOALKEEPERS were kept busy between the uprights over the past weekend as 31 goals were scored in the Saint Lucia Football Association (SLFA) Inc. Premiere and 2nd Division Championships, which kicked off Saturday.
Four matches were expected to be played last night in the Division 2 competition. B1 FC was downed to play Togetherness Youth at 5.00 p.m., with Lancers FC and RV Juniors at 7.00 p.m. in Anse la Raye. At the Canaries playing field, New Generation fought 1987 All Stars at 5.00 p.m. while T Valley battled Bays FC at 7.00 p.m.
Meanwhile, the main highlight of the weekend games was a beaver trick scored by national Under-20 striker, Keegan Caul.
In the opening games at the SLFA Goal Project/ Astro Turf /Technical Centre in Grande Riviere (Dennery) in 2nd Division action, the National Under 20 team defeated 1987 All Stars 5 – 2, with Keegan Caul scoring a beaver trick one of which was from the penalty spot in the 7th, the other three came in the 39th, 69th and 78th minute, while Jared Desir scoring the other in the 89th minute.
For 1987 All Stars, Mc Arthur Louise scored both goals from the penalty spot in the 32nd and 48th minute.
Victory Eagles made Light work of Lancers FC defeating them 3 – 1. The goal scorers, Bobby Emmanuel in the 6th, Patrice Richard in the 12th with one from Kern Joseph. Albertin Phillip pulled one back for Lancers FC in the 8th minute.
At the Anse la Raye playing field, in the first game of a double header, B1 FC and Diamond Ballers played to a 1 – 1 draw. In the second encounter, Togetherness Youth got the better of RV Juniors 4 – 2.
For Togetherness Youth the goals came from Deaus Alphonse in the 28th minute, JernickTheourile in the 50th and 58th minute and Rysan Henry the 57th minute. Shervin Eleuthere scored a brace in the 55th and 58th minute for R V Juniors.
At the Phillip Marcellin Grounds (PMG) in Vieux Fort one match was played in the Premiere Division. In the encounter, Northern United edged out El Ninos 2 – 1.
For Northern United, the goals scorers were Sherwin Simon in the 25th minute and Nicholas Lawrence in the 78th minute. Ectus David scored for El Ninos in the 88th minute.
The action continued on Sunday 11th with matches at the Anse la Raye playing field in the Premiere Division.
KFC GFC with goals from Sherman Augustin in the 58th minute, Jason Similien from the penalty spot in the 68th minute and Selwyn Boyce in the 90+5 of added time came, from behind to defeat Knights FC 3 – 1. Charlery Mathurin opened the scoring for Knights in the 6th minute.
In the other game played VSADC defeated Ti Rocher 3 – 2. For VSADC, the goal scorers were Simeon Francis in the 30th, Makalan John 76th and Kingsley Henry in the 83rd minute.
SemeusEristhere strike in the 56th minute made it 1-1, while Lamal Serieux scored the other in the 90+1 minute of added time for Ti Rocher.
