Saint Lucia records 31 new cases of COVID-19 in two days

On Tuesday March 9, 2021, the Ministry of Health and Wellness received confirmation of 31 new cases of COVID-19 from the Ezra Long Laboratory. This is from a batch of 181 samples taken during the period March 5, 2021, to March 7, 2021. The samples were processed on March 7, 2021, and March 8, 2021.

All of the thirty-one individuals were assessed and tested for COVID-19 at various community respiratory clinics. In-keeping with the national COVID-19 testing protocol, they were each placed in-home quarantine by healthcare practitioners while awaiting the return of their test results.

Arrangements have since been made to place these individuals into isolation. The contact tracing for these new cases is underway. The new cases bring the total number of cases diagnosed in the country to date to 3902.

Confirmation was also received of the recovery of 79 individuals diagnosed with COVID-19 bringing the total number of active cases in country to date to 207. There are two active cases presently requiring critical care at the Respiratory Hospital.

The Ministry of Health continues to note the number of individuals accessing the services at the vaccination sites on a daily basis and receiving the COVID-19 vaccine. The Ministry of Health is pleased to announce that as of yesterday March 8, 2021 Saint Lucia has vaccinated a total of 7869 individuals.

People in Phases 1A and 1B who have not been vaccinated are encouraged to pre- register and to visit the Community Wellness Centre nearest to them based on the vaccination drive schedule.
