As the island battle to mitigate the community spread of COVID-19, more stringent measures have been put in place to guard the unauthorized ports of entry.
On Sunday, October 25, 2020, 43-year-old, Jamaican National, Granville Blake, was charged for entering at an unauthorized port of entry.
“He was arrested on October 19, 2020, in Gros Islet after officers discovered he had illegally gained entry into Saint Lucia”, according to Superintendent of Police George Nicholas.
Blake was also slapped with a charge for disembarking without consent of an Immigration Officer.

The use of unauthorized ports has long been linked to the island experience a surge in COVID-19 cases after enjoying weeks of COVID-19 negative results.
