The Saint Lucia Labour Party will this Sunday hold the Open Session of its 2016 Conference of Delegates in Bellevue, Vieux Fort North from 2:30 p.m.
Since the June elections, the party has completed Annual General Meetings (AGMs) in all but one of its seventeen constituency groups. The latest AGM was held in the Constituency of Castries South where a large number of the party faithful gathered last Sunday at the Ciceron Secondary School.
The session of the Annual Conference of Delegates to be held in Bellevue is open to delegates as well as all supporters and well-wishers from all parts of the country.
The party has chosen as its conference theme: “Mobilize! Organize! Consolidate!”
Political Leader, Hon. Philip J. Pierre, will deliver his first address to the Annual Conference of Delegates. It is expected that he will define the course to be followed by the SLP during its current period in opposition to ensure that it is ready to return to government at the first given opportunity.
Mr. Pierre is also expected to sound the first trumpet of caution to the Allen Chastanet administration which is yet to demonstrate any ability to begin delivering on the promises made to the electorate, and instead have embarked on a path of victimization of people it perceives to be sympathetic to the Labour Party.
The keynote address is to be delivered by young Unity Labour Party progressive, Rochelle Forde-Duncan. Forde-Duncan is a lawyer by profession and a former Senator and Deputy Speaker in the St. Vincent Parliament.
